Chapter 4: Betrayal & Forgiveness

Factions, weather and more!

The days of true devotion have long since passed in the Jianghu, where traitors and spies now lurk. Chapter 4: Betrayal & Forgiveness will provide players with the opportunity to not only leave their current Sect and join another, but even go completely without allegiance. A true vagabond. A Vagrant.

Three primary paths will allow you to leave your Sect, though only one will allow you to directly join another of the 8 Great Sects. Let's take a closer look at the three methods now:

Betrayal

Betray the Sect Leader who took you in as one of their own and return to the Jianghu an empty shell of what you once were. Those who betray their Sect are able to join any of the 8 Great Sects or the 6 Factions, though rejoining your own original Sect will require a 30-day waiting period.

Requirements:

  • Cannot be a Deacon, Elder or Sect Leader.
  • Cannot be presently doing quests for another leave method.
  • It has been 30 days or more since your last leave.

Punishment:

  • All Sect Internal Skills will be removed.
  • All Sect Combat Skills will be removed.
  • All Sect Identities will be removed.
  • Some Sect quests will be removed.

Benefit:
Regain 80% of lost Cultivation through items, once you rejoin another Sect or Faction.

Temporary Leave

Temporarily leave your Sect to train elsewhere, with the ultimate goal of returning to your true master with greater power than before. This will allow you to join one or more of the 6 Factions, but will not grant you entry to the 8 Great Sects.

Requirements:

  • Cannot be a Deacon, Elder or Sect Leader.
  • Have not betrayed your Sect.
  • Cannot be presently doing quests for another leave method.
  • It has been 30 days or more since your last leave.
  • Strength must be Peak of Perfection or above.
  • Cannot leave if you have a Jianghu companion.

Punishment:

  • All Sect Internal Skills maximum level will be temporarily reduced.
  • All Sect Combat Skills maximum level will be temporarily reduced.
  • All Sect Identities will be removed.
  • Some Sect quests will be removed.

Benefit:
All previous skill levels and Sect Identities will be returned once you return to the Sect.

Leaving in Disguise

The final method involves great cost and effort, but provides the least impact and potentially the most beneficial outcome. Leaving in Disguise allows you to re-enter the Jianghu under the guise of being without a Sect, permitting entry to the 6 Factions. However, you may still not join any of the other 8 Great Sects.

Requirements:

  • Cannot be a Deacon, Elder or Sect Leader.
  • Cannot be presently doing quests for another leave method.
  • It has been 30 days or more since your last leave.
  • You are a Jianghu VIP
  • A maximum of 30 people can Leave in Disguise each day.

Punishment:

  • All Sect Identities will be removed.
  • Some Sect quests will be removed.

Benefit:
Players suffer no loss to their skills, can quickly return to their Sect and can even benefit from a face change system.

Once you have left your Sect, you may move to become a vagabond; a Vagrant.

The Vagrants

The Vagrants are a group of Sectless and Factionless Xia in the Jianghu. They pursue their own desires and live as free spirits. The journey starts with the Villain's Valley Cart Driver at 402, 338. From there you will journey to the Peak of Mount Hua, to pursue a story line involving representatives of each of the 8 Great Sects, and an old master of the Jianghu.

There are two Chapters to the Vagrant storyline, and completing each provides scaling benefits, including two brand new skill sets (Storm Sabre Technique & Kuixing Kick), advanced levels of Sitting and Forgetting, and the brand new Cold Ice Qi Internal Skill. Progressing as a Vagrant also allows you to go join one of the 8 Great Sects, or one of the 6 Factions, without losing any of your Vagrant combat or Internal skills.

Pursuing life as a Vagrant is a necessary step after betraying your Sect, in order to join a new Sect or a Faction, but considering you still gain new skills, identities and outfits from it, it's not a lost venture!
